President
Trump’s approval rating soared past that of former President Obama’s during the
same time in his administration, and defied negative stereotypes that were driven
by opponents when he became only the 3rd president in United States history to
be impeached.
About
151 weeks into his presidency, Donald Trump’s approval rating sits at 45%, according
to last Wednesday’s Gallup poll. This places Trump 3
points higher than the 42% approval rating that Gallup revealed for Obama
during the same time in his presidency.
Around
151 weeks into their administrations, Gallup’s poll reported a similar
disapproval rating for both presidents. Approximately 51% of voters stated they
disapprove of the current president’s performance within a Gallup poll performed on December
2 through 15, as compared to 50% of voters reporting they disapproved of the
former president’s performance in a December 12 through 18 Gallup poll
conducted in 2011.
Trump’s
job approval rating climbed 6 percentage points since Nancy Pelosi opened an inquiry of impeachment
against him last September.
Last
Wednesday, House Dems subsequently voted to impeach Trump after the House
passed article 1 of H.R. 755, charging Trump with abusing the office of
presidency.
The
House now has passed articles of impeachment, and the Senate is set to convene
a trial to decide if Trump ought to be removed from office.
This
trial is expected sometime within the New Year though House Speaker Pelosi has
yet to provide any confirmation of the precise timing.
