Former
VP Joe Biden said he was prepared to sacrifice a multitude of jobs in order to
create a greener economy.
On
Thursday, Joe was questioned by Tim Alberta, a moderator during the Politico/PBS
Democrat debate concerning his clean energy proposals.
Alberta
asked, ‘As president, would you sacrifice some of that growth, knowing that it
could potentially displace hundreds of thousands of blue-collar employees in
the interest of transitioning to a greener economy?’
Biden’s
answer was yes. His response was ‘The answer is yes because the chance for
those employees to transition to higher paying jobs is real.’
The
former Vice President added that the government could produce batteries to
store energy and could invest in making houses more energy efficient.
Biden
said more government regulations and spending might help transform the country
to a cleaner energy future.
According
to Biden, we should not build another new American highway that does not have
charging stations on it.
He
added that Washington would need to explain to employees who lose their jobs
about this transition.
According
to Biden, we have to ensure that we talk about it to the ones displaced that
their talent will be required for the new opportunities.
