Who Were the Most Admired Women in 2019?

Michelle Obama, former First Lady, is 2019’s most admired woman, followed by others, which includes Greta Thunberg, teenage climate activist, who made Gallup’s top 10 list.

Obama maintained Michelle’s title as the most admired woman for the 2nd year in a row, with 10% of people in America selecting the previous first lady. That’s down 5% from 2018, when Michelle saw 15% support.

Melania Trump, First Lady, came in 2nd place with 5% picking her as the most admired woman. Greta Thunberg, Hillary Clinton, and Oprah Winfrey followed with 3% support each.

Queen Elizabeth II, German Chancellor Angela Merkel, former United States Ambassador to the UN Nikki Haley, Senator Elizabeth Warren, Justice Ruth Bader Ginsburg, and House Speaker Nancy Pelosi rounded out the top 10 list.

The biggest Gallup survey’s takeaway is, arguably, Trump’s tie with previous President Obama as 2019’s most admired man. They tied with 18% support — Trump’s highest percentage within recent years. Trump garnered 13% in 2018 and 14% in 2017. Barack Obama saw 19% support in 2018 and 17% support in 2017.

The poll, taken Dec. 2 through 15, 2019 among 1,025 participants, additionally showed Rep. Adam Schiff, Elon Musk, Senator Bernie Sanders, and Pope Francis making the top 10 list.

According to the Gallup poll, President Trump is ‘more popular right now than he was in the last 2 years, with a 45 percent approval rating, among his best as president.’
