President Trump returned from a visit which
spotlighted his isolation abroad to confront turmoil inside Washington over Obamacare
and Russia which only have grown more intense within his absence.
Trump will be called on to rescue a Republican push
that will repeal Obamacare which currently seems to be in substantial trouble,
and he’s faced with more and more fallout from the meeting with Putin that
provided new openings to critics.
However, even as the political storm around the White
House intensifies, the US President only will be home for a couple of days.
Later in the week, Trump returns to Europe to be the
France's Bastille Day parade’s guest of honor Friday upon a visit which will
paper over divisions in between the Western powers and the White House on
display in the G20 summit. The US President was isolated upon trade policy and
rebuked over a decision to pull the US out of the Paris accord upon fighting
climate change, even though both positions were precisely in line with the vows
made to voters which led to his victory within the presidential election of
2016.
Still, the trip will spotlight his increasing ease upon
the international stage following a trip last week where he argued that the West’s
trajectory ought to be closer to his populist, nationalistic politics than the
more liberal reflexes upon immigration and reach of government favored by
United States allies across the Atlantic.
The most substantial period of the US President’s trip
to Poland and Germany that ended as Air Force One landed at Joint Base Andrews upon
Saturday evening, was a long-awaited meeting with Vladimir Putin.
