On
Monday, President Trump announced multiple steps forward at the White House to assist
Americans who suffer economically from fears of the coronavirus spread.
Trump
said that he’d meet with lawmakers in DC on Tuesday to talk about a financial
assistance for hourly wage earners, payroll tax cut, small business loans, and
financial help for the cruise and airline industries.
Trump’s
solutions echoed many proposals that were detailed by a news editor on Monday
morning.
The
president praised his own choice to suspend travel from China, as well as set
up screening in airports, and noted that it assisted in slowing the spread of
the virus while people in America could get ready for the response.
Also,
Trump thanked VP Mike Pence, as well as the Coronavirus Task Force for all of their
efforts.
The
Vice President repeated his assertion from doctors that the risk of contracting
the virus remained low.
Pence
urged every American to go to the site coronavirus.gov for information about
ways to fight the coronavirus, which includes “common sense” methods of mitigating
the spread.
Steven
Mnuchin, Treasury Secretary, reaffirmed his confidence in the economy’s
strength, despite the historic slump within the stock market, referring to it
as ‘the most resilient economy worldwide.’
Mnuchin
stated that Trump would act to offer ‘whatever support is necessary’ to aid in
strengthening the economy within the upcoming days.
On
Monday evening, Trump appeared at the press briefing room of the White House
with his team to go over the response to the spread of the coronavirus after going
back to DC from Florida.
