According
to a Change Research/KQED poll that was released on Wednesday, all
signs point to a solid win for Senator Sanders within the Super Tuesday state
of California.
Bernie
is leading in California, days ahead of the March 3rd primaries. Around 1,357,
or 1/3, of the party’s pledged delegates are now up for grabs, which brings the
hopefuls for president that much closer to the 1,991 delegates needed to seal
the nomination on the 1st ballot. Anything less could result in a
brokered convention that might spark chaos inside the Democrat Party. Sanders,
at this point, is the only candidate who explicitly has said that the candidate
going to the convention with the most delegates, even if it’s short of the
1,991 needed for the majority, ought to be the nominee.
Still,
there’s a long way to go, yet with Super Tuesday days away, all eyes are on
some of the states that are allocating the most delegates, which includes
California.
The
survey, conducted on Feb. 20th through 23rd, 2020, among 1,069 probable Dem. primary
voters, showed Bernie leading the pack with the majority — 37% support. Senator
Warren overtook Biden for a distant 2nd with 20% to the former VP’s 12%.
Buttigieg followed behind with 11% support.
Bloomberg
soared down to the bottom tier with only 6% support, followed up by Senator Klobuchar,
Steyer, and Tulsi Gabbard with 5%, 3%, and 2%, respectively. Check it out:
· Bernie Sanders 37
percent
· Elizabeth Warren 20
percent
· Joe Biden 12 percent
· Pete Buttigieg 11
percent
· Mike Bloomberg 6
percent
· Amy Klobuchar 5 percent
· Andrew Yang 4 percent
· Tom Steyer 3 percent
· Tulsi Gabbard 2 percent
· Julian Castro 1 percent
According
to the RealClearPolitics average, similarly, Bernie is leading in Texas, an
additional delegate-rich Super Tuesday state.
