Jacob
Blake’s shooting triggered protests in Kenosha and additional cities.
Jacob
Blake was the black male who was shot by Wisconsin officers, and he has now
been released from shackles while in the hospital.
Kenosha
police had stated that he was in police custody for prior warrants and
handcuffs were policy.
His
lawyer told media sources that those warrants were cancelled and that the
authorities guarding Blake had left.
Blake
was paralyzed after being shot 7 times by officers and it isn’t clear if he’ll
ever walk again.
In
the meantime, a court hearing for a teen who was charged with murdering 2
people during unrest over Jacob Blake's shooting was delayed by one month.
Seventeen-year-old
Kyle Rittenhouse was supposed to appear in court in Illinois, for a hearing on
a request to have the teen extradited to Wisconsin. However, a judge delayed
the hearing until September 25th.
Rittenhouse
didn’t appear within last Friday's short video conference.
Who’s
the U.S. teenager accused of protest murders?
He
is faced with 6 criminal counts, which includes 1st-degree intentional
homicide, 1st-degree reckless homicide, as well as possession of a lethal weapon
below the age of 18.
Rittenhouse
is being defended by a firm whose clientele has included President Trump's
personal lawyer Rudolph Giuliani and Carter Page, previous Trump adviser.
Blake's
shooting in Kenosha sparked demonstrations all across the United States. It has
been fairly quiet for the last couple of nights.
John
Antaramian, Mayor of Kenosha, recently stated that a citywide curfew would be
in place throughout the weekend.
There
are over 1,000 National Guard troops who are deployed inside Kenosha with more
on the way, according to authorities.
What
has Blake’s family had to say?
Blake's
father, also named Jacob Blake, talked with reporters after he visited his son
in the hospital.
According
to Jacob Blake Sr., he hates it that his son was laying in the bed with
handcuffs on the bed. He cannot go anywhere. Why do they have him handcuffed to
the bed, he asked.
Last
Friday, Blake's lawyer, Pat Cafferty, told media sources that Blake was
released from cuffs and outstanding warrants against him were vacated.
Cafferty
didn’t respond to requests for comments.
Asked
earlier within the day if Blake was being detained inside the hospital, Daniel
Miskinis, Kenosha Police Chief, told reporters he was underneath the guard of
an ‘exterior law enforcement agency’ and didn’t offer further comments on
Blake's status.
Blake's
attorneys have said it’ll take "a miracle" for Blake to walk again.
According
to Lt Eric Klinkhammer, with the County Sheriff's Department in Kenosha, Blake
is in custody for prior felony warrants. Their policy indicates that everyone
in custody outside their jail facility is secured with restraints.
Tony
Evers, Wisconsin Governor, asked by media sources if he was worried that Blake
had been cuffed to the bed, stated: "Hell yes."
According
to Evers, he’d have no understanding of why that’d be necessary. And added that
certainly he has paid a horrible price already, he’s been shot 7 to 8 times in his
back.
Blake's
family members were supposed to go to a civil rights rally inside Washington last
Friday. It was been spurred by a long period of unrest concerning police
brutality against blacks.
Last
Thursday the ACLU called for the
resignation of Kenosha's county sheriff and police chief, and accused them of
defending "white supremacy" as well as ‘demonizing those who were killed
for exercising their 1st Amendment rights & speaking against police brutality’.
Last
Friday, Mayor Antaramian said that he wouldn’t seek the immediate resignations
of Police Chief Daniel Miskinis or Kenosha County Sheriff David Beth.
According
to the mayor, when looking at what happened, everyone is doing their best with
the situation they are in.
How
did this shooting occur?
The
circumstances leading up to Blake's shooting remain under investigation.
According
to Josh Kaul, Wisconsin’s Attorney-General, the police were called over to an
address after a female stated that ‘her boyfriend was there and wasn’t supposed
to be there’.
Kaul
added that no other policeman fired their weapon and that officers happened to
recover a knife from the motorist’s car’s side floorboard. No additional weapon
was discovered in the car.
Rusten
Sheskey and one other police officer have been put on administrative leave.
Kyle
Rittenhouse: What about him?
Kyle
told journalists that it was "his job" to guard Kenosha building’s
against violent protesters.
Social
media videos showed a male who had a rifle being chased by a massive crowd
before falling to the cement and he appeared to fire at them.
Anthony
Huber, 26, and Joseph Rosenbaum, 36, both died at the scene of the incident. In
addition, 26-year-old Gaige Grosskreutz, was injured.
Rittenhouse
was arrested in his mom's home in Illinois last Wednesday.
Asked
about how Rittenhouse had the ability to flee the scene without having to be
detained by officers, Miskinis stated that ‘there wasn’t anything that suggested
that the individual was involved within any criminal behavior’.
Misikinis
added that there were lots of folks in that area and he didn’t believe it was a
lapse in judgment to allow Rittenhouse to leave.

We are the GOOD GUYS and
we want to give hope and help to many less fortunate Blacks in poor areas by
replacing the Democratic positions that have failed to fulfill their promises.
Donald Trump has over delivered on his promises and that is why so many
millions follow and support him. But he ONLY received 8%, yes only EIGHT
PERCENT of the Black Vote in 2016. We aim to get that number MUCH, MUCH higher.
HOW...
Through EDUCATION and
the power of their vote is what matters. That will enable things to change in
their favor. Our website www.BlackCovid-19News.com keeps up with why and how COVID-19 has
had such a negative effect on the Black Nation and what they can do about protecting
themselves.
